Ride out to the Welland Valley and up to Rutland Water returning via Kings Cliffe to Barnwell Park.

Classic Bianchi

The Bianchi Mega Pro XL was created for the 1998 Tour De France and Giro d' Italia winner Marco Pantani. The bike was custom built to compliment his riding style, he was a great climber and had a very attacking style.


On the day Steve from Light blue will bring some example of up to date Classics and is is hoping to ride out with us on his new steel frame made up with with Classic parts. Short Route

Ride out via Bulwick, to Kings Cliffe, Wansford and Elton returning via Polebrook to Barnwell Park.

Marco Pantani

Marco Pantani was known as the Pirate because of his shaved head, bandana and earrings. He was famous for winning the Giro d'Italia and Tour de France in 1998.

  • The event is a leisure ride and participants take part at their own risk.
  • The event will be on open roads, normal highway code applies and is not a race.
  • The following are categories of bike for competition entry.

 A. 1990 to 2000  B. 1980 to 1989 C. Pre 1980 D. Modern Retro

  • All bike types can be entered (e.g. road racer, mountain bike, chopper etc) but they must be in the above age groups
  • Riders may choose to dress to look appropriately for their age of their bike
  • Prizes given out for the best bike and rider combination in the categories A,B,C, and D
  • Entrants can register on the website or on the day to be eligible for the competition
  • Retro style steel frames new bikes are acceptable, but no deep dish carbon wheels etc
